DENSO Barcelona S.A. was established in June 1989 and is located at Sant Fruitós de Bages, just outside Barcelona. Adapting to meet new challenges, it has been growing ever since undergoing eight expansions, the first in 1991 and the most recent in 2008.
When the Spanish company started production, it manufactured one single product: ignition coils for Ford. Now, its associates manufacture several different products (electronic control units, stick coils, oxygen sensors, air flow meters, meter cluster, etc.) for many customers.
The associates of DENSO Barcelona have a strong commitment to their customers and their community. They have earned quality awards from Toyota and a supplier excellence award from Land Rover. Their community commitment is evident in their donations to cultural and educational organizations, primarily supporting the physically challenged in the frame of Community Service Day (CSD).
The company’s concern for the environment and for the safety of its employees has led to the ISO14001 Certificate and EMAS Certificate. DENSO Barcelona installed a wastewater purification plant; a warehouse for flammable waste and materials; protection systems and its own fire fighting team.
With 20 years of experience within the DENSO Group, the company recently has been awarded for ten years of best environmental practices (EMAS) by Generalitat of Catalunya. It also achieved the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status in protection and security by Agencia Tributaria, Spain.
The AEO certificate allows DENSO to be recognized by the Spanish administration as a reliable supplier in all logistic chain flow regarding exportation and importation.
The EMAS award recognizes best environmental practices in the community including the reduction of 2.15 tons of CO2 emission into the atmosphere; a reduction of 4M litres of water consumption at the St. Fruitós del Bages plant; and 100% of in house segregation of production residue.
