DENSO WAVE to release new VS-Series 6-axis compact robots
- Compact, high-speed, user-friendly, globally deployable -

TOKYO, JAPAN — DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED will release its new high performance and more user-friendly VS-Series compact six-axis robots in November 2010. The robots are the world’s fastest and have the slimmest arms in their class of small industrial robots. They also feature the world’s first design to have all linking wires embedded inside and to the end of the robot’s arm, which saves valuable space on the factory floor.

“World’s first,” “world’s fastest,” and “world’s slimmest” for small industrial robots with arm length ranging from 500 to 875mm and payload capacities from 4 to 7kg based on company research conducted in May 2010.

“Today’s marketplace requires value-added, high-quality and low-cost products, and manufacturing equipment must increasingly operate at higher speeds, be more compact and user friendly,” said Toyohiko Ito, Director and Senior Managing Exective Officer overseeing DENSO WAVE’s Industrial Robotics Division. “The performance specifications and functions of the new VS-Series robots are developed to meet these requirements in the global market.”

Four different VS Series models will be released, with arm lengths ranging from 500 to 875 mm and payload capacities from 4 to 7 kg. In addition, they are available in many different models, to handle a wide variety of applications. For example, dust- and waterproof models are available for harsh environments such as inside Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines. The cleanroom models are available for the electronics and medical industries.

The new robots are compliant with global safety standards. With the robots performance specifications and functions based on the demands of the global market, DENSO WAVE expects to sell 5,000 units per year. The VS-Series robots will be sold through DENSO CORP.’s sales offices.* In Japan, the robots will be sold through DENSO FA distributors. Prior to the release, the new robots will be displayed at the Automatica Trade Fair in Munich, Germany, June 8–11, 2010.

* There are nine DENSO CORPORATION robot sales offices, including DENSO Europe B.V., DENSO Sales California and others in Asia.
